On the girls side the host Panthers got things rolling with a 1:55.53 Sprint Medley Relay. Palmer's Keyanda Bolton followed up last week's big win at the Pikes Peak Invitational to win the title in the 100m at Harrison. Behind her Harrison's Ereana McCallister and Cheyenne Mountain's Gabrielle Hyatt closely followed.
McCallister and Hyatt went at it again in the 200m with McCallister getting the .47 second win at 26.49.
Alamosa's Lilly Lavier showed that even though it is just three weeks into the season. Lavier was the champion in both the 400m (59.05) and 800m (2:24.69).
Lavier's teammate Mary Streeter took the title over Sand Creek sophomore Jahzara Davis with both running times that would have scored at state last year (15.80 and 15.84 respectively).
The long hurdles saw a showdown between Air Academy sophomore Kesler Stutzman and Doherty senior Leilani Washington. Stutzman took home the victory at the line in 51.09. Washington was right behind and surging to finish in 51.14.
Cheyenne Mountain showed that they are ready to defend their back-to-back state championships in the 4x100m relay when they dropped a 50.50 that puts them as the top ranked 4A team in the state. The second-place finishers, Doherty, finished over a second behind the Indians. The Indians repeated their win to close out the meet with a victory in the 4x400m relay.
Throws saw Palmer Ridge senior Julia Howe come away with the win in a throw of 118'8". Harrison's Diamond Moore won the crown in the shot put with a mark of 37'8".
