Flashback Friday: Mason Anthony Breaks 3A 300H State Record

Sure, this isn't too old, but it definitely deserves another look!

Mason Anthony has been quietly putting together one stellar senior season so far, and his 300 Hurdle victory at Mullen about seals the deal on that statement.

Anthony was running his first 300 Hurdle of the outdoor season, and he made the most of it. The Elizabeth senior blitzed a 37.92, which is Colorado's first - and so far only - sub-38 clocking in the event this season.

His time is currently No. 1 in Colorado, and No. 31 in the US.

What makes the result all the more impressive is that it took down Carl Heide's 11-month old 3A state record of 38.07.

And if you scan over the future UCCS Mountain Lion's improvement in the event throughout his high school career you'll notice it's gone like clockwork.

Freshmen Year - 40.26

Sophomore Year - 39.37

Junior Year - 38.71

Senior Year (So Far) - 37.92

If you dig a little more at those stats, you'll also notice that his freshmen, sophomore, and junior season bests all came within a week of State, begging the question: How much faster can Anthony go?

It's only the middle of April...

In each season he's taken off nearly a full second, if not more, from early April to the middle of May. I'll go ahead and let the reader do the math on that one...
