Q) Talk about the recruitment process - what other schools were you looking at, and how did you come to choosing the UC-Colorado Springs?

For the recruitment process since I didn't really start doing sprints until this indoor season, I had a few schools looking at me, but it was all over the place. I had a school from Kansas that I talked to, but I knew that I really wanted to stay close to home for college, so I reached out to the two schools that I was interested in which was the University of Northern Colorado and of course UC Colorado Springs. I think that the moment I came to the decision of UCCS was when I had an indoor meet at their new indoor track and I was able to talk to Coach Dillion which really helped me decide that I was going to go there.

Q) What do you plan to study at UCCS?

I haven't fully decided what I will be studying yet at UCCS, but I am leaning towards studying Education.

Q) What got you into track and field in the first place?

The first thing that really got me into track was in elementary school when we did the HEX team which was a track meet for sixth graders, and I just really enjoy running and competing against other kids from different schools.

Q) You've competed in events ranging from the 100 on up to the 5k, what would you say your favorite event is, and why?

I would say that the 400 is my favorite event to run individually. But I love running the 4x400, I love being able to compete against other schools and see the team do well it is the best feeling after running a 4x400 and winning.

Q) You've taken a nose-dive downwards in distance, running the 100-200, and 400 mostly this season, talk about the change.

Since I was in middle school I was running both cross country and track, but this was the first year that I only did track. It was a really hard decision for me to make since I had made really good friendships on the cross country team and I didn't want to lose them, but being able to focus on the 400 and 200 which I consider to be my better events has really allowed me to become much better than if I didn't take a nose-dive downwards in distance.

Q) What event do you see yourself focusing on at UCCS?

I see myself focusing on the 400 mainly as well as the 200.

Q) Could you share any goals you have for the finals weeks of the track season?

The goals for the rest of my season are to keep focusing on the 400, 200 and trying to drop my times in those events. I also want to help my team make it to state in as many relays as we can.

Q) What would your favorite high school moment be (so far)?

My favorite moment in high school was probably the first meet this season. It was my first outdoor meet as a sprinter and we were at Continental League Relays. The team and I were running the 4x100, 4x200, and the sprint medley. We went on to win all those relays and the boys ended up winning the meet. That would be my favorite moment because we all saw what the season was going to look like.
