Three Storylines For Colorado State In Every Classification

2A

Can Remington Ross Rewrite The 2A State Meet Record Books?

The Highland junior already owns three state titles - the 100 (twice), and the 200. Last year she swept the event, and this year she appears primed to chase some records.

The 100 state meet record is 12.05, while the 200 is 24.73. Ross owns a 12.09 PR from last year, and has run 12.21 so far this year. In the 200 she's fresh off a brand new shiny PR of 24.89.

Keep an eye out for the chase - she'll run the preliminary heat of the 100 Thursday at 2:30 p.m., and the preliminary heat of the 200 Thursday at 6:05 p.m.

And - Can Kaiya Firor Take Down The 400 and 300 Hurdle State Meet Records?

The Hotchkiss senior has already run 56.32 this season. The current state meet record is a six year-old mark that stands at 56.34.

Likewise, she's already run 44.28 in the 300 hurdles, which is right under the current state meet record of 44.44.

The only real question here is can Firor run her best on the right day?

The 300H prelims are scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m., the 400 prelims are scheduled for Thursday at 7:05 p.m.

David Trujillo: The Cinderella Story Of 2A?

A year ago the Rocky Ford senior finished seventh in the 100 finals, and didn't get out of the preliminary heats of the 200.

This year he enters his final state meet as the favorite in the 100 and the 200. His 11.19 in the 100, and his 22.65 in the 200 top the state.

To go from barely on the podium one year, to potentially being on top the next, truly is inspiring.

The 100 prelims are scheduled for Thursday at 2:35 p.m., the 200 prelims are scheduled for Thursday at 6:10 p.m.
