Killebrew Runs State Record Time at Brooks PR

Killebrew won her 2nd state title in the 100 dash in 11.63 last weekend.

This year's Indiana sprint talent has been one of the best we've seen in a while. And on Saturday night, Semira Killebrew showed the nation exactly what Indiana talent looks like. The Brebeuf Jesuit sprint won the 100 meter dash in 11.24 at the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle. This mark puts her US No. 2 currently and No. 21 all-time based on the MileSplit Database for all conditions.

This mark not only improved her IN No.1 mark of 11.50 from the Marion County Meet over a month ago, it also broke the all-time state best mark of 11.39 set by Candyce McGrone of Warren Central from 2008. McGrone's mark was set on Indiana soil, at the Shelbyville Sectional her senior year.

The field was slated to have 6 athletes compete, with the top seed coming from Kenondra Davis from Fort Worth Trimble Tech seeded at 11.43. Davis would end up 2nd in 11.36. From the start Killebrew managed to get out fast and keep that pace through the line as no one else was able to catch her.

Next up for the North Carolina signee is the U20 Outdoor Championships in Miramar, FL next weekend. Killebrew is set to compete in the 100 and will come in with the top seed time, tied with Ole Miss' Brandee Presley.
