A Revealing Run At The Vista Nation XC 2 Mile

Samrawit Dishon has some unfinished business.

That much was clear Friday afternoon.

The Niwot senior wasted no time stating her intentions. She surged hard, and early, and telescoped away for a solo 11:38 victory. The finish was 12 seconds faster than her 2018 finish (and she went on to run 17:24 at Desert Twilight.)

Her cashers included Mountain Vista's Madison Reed and Sarah O'Sullivan, and Regis Jesuit's Isalina Colsman

Reed used a late charge to run herself into second late in the race. She went on to crack 12 minutes, running 11:53 for second, while O'Sullivan and Colsman battled down the straightaway to the finish for the third spot. O'Sullivan won that battle, running 12:03 to Colsman's 12:04.

Valor freshman Brooke Wilson tallied an impressive finish in her first as a high schooler, running 12:09 to cross in fifth.

Like the boy's race, the girl's team race came with asterisks, given that no one team ran their top five.

Mountain Vista took the win to sweep the meet with 49 points, while Broomfield was a solid runner-up with 70 points. Palmer Ridge finished third with 103.

Of additional note: The girl's junior/senior race was a competitive affair with Niwot's Lucca Fulkerson taking the win over Valor's Lanie Szuch. Fulkerson ran 12:17, which would've placed sixth in the varsity race.
