Dashing Performances At D'Evelyn

The girl's Division 2 race actually came down to the wire, sort of...

SkyView's Elsie Skurdal held a few seconds of lead over St. Mary's freshman Hana Husmann in the late stages of the race. The freshman, who was running her first high school 5k, couldn't be broken, but the gap was too much to close - Skurdal made sure of that.

The SkyView sophomore held on for the win, running 20:45, which was just five agonizing seconds ahead of Husmann, who finished in 20:50. Collectively, they ran the No. 8 and No. 9 fastest times in 3A this weekend, and Husmann owns the No. 1 time among freshmen.

In the team race Machebeuf (Bishop) was the victory, tallying the trendy, oh-so-common-on-this day 39 points. Becca PatrickGema HernandezRegan Kearney, and Mary Kate Kearney packed the front of the race, giving Machbeuf four in the Top 10, finishing 5-6-7-10, while Carly Whitehouse closed out the scoring just outside in 11th.

Lutheran took second with 56 points, while SkyView was just eight points back with 64.
