The Girl's Pole Vault
Mia Manson has been gradually creeping her way back upwards to that 13-foot mark in the pole vault over the past month.
Her past three competitions were 12-4, 12-8, 12-10, which means she's finding her stride right in time for this weekend's competition. Two years ago she won the event here in a stellar 13-1.5.
***Editor's note: Manson went 13-1 at Mines Thursday night.
Manson will have competition raising the bar in Lilly Nichols, Megan Kelleghan, and 3A state champ Kristina Willis.
Nichols has already gone 12-2 this season - and is in eighth grade, while Kelleghan has gone 12-0 this season as well. Willis has competed twice in 2020 - both 10-6 performances, though she owns a personal best of 12-1.75.
