Getting Real At The Let's Get REAL Invite

Sadie McMullen came to Colorado Springs ready to work

The Valor Christian senior picked up two big wins - the 60 and the long jump. McMullen dipped under eight seconds in the 60 for the first time this season to win the event in 7.86 over Amarachi Onuoha, who finished second in 7.90.

And McMullen was just warming up.

The Wyoming-commit went 19-5 in the long jump for her third time over 19 feet this indoor season, and second time in two weeks over 19-5.

Onuoha did get a W before the night was over. The Far Northeast junior took the 200 in 25.97.

Meanwhile the 400 was one of two insanely exciting races.

Brooke Wilson had her work cut out for her when she toed the line in the Heat 10 of the 400, because Kara Lucyk and Taylor Whitfield set the bar at 1:03.26 and 1:03.31 in Heat 9.

But the Valor Christian freshman was game - Wilson kicked hard, and late, to run the fastest time of the night, clocking 1:03.00.

Speaking of kicking hard and late - Madison Shults

The Niwot freshman gave the class of 2023 another big W Friday night, winning the 800 in 2:23.

Over an hour earlier, Whitfield and Wilson teamed up in the mile, and Whitfield got to show off some major turnover.

Eighth-grader Reese Tucker took the two high schoolers to task, however. Tucker pushed the pace early, and she was rewarded for it.

Whitfield proved to be too much in the end, however, as she kicked late to a 5:17 victory. Tucker held on for a 5:20 runner-up finish, just ahead of Wilson's 5:21.

In the shot put the name was Dack-Howell, as in Katie Dack-Howell and Jordan Dack-Howell.

The Lutheran duo went 1-2 in the event, with Katie taking a big victory with a 42-4 toss.

Like Onuoha, Lucyk did get a W before heading back home. The Mountain Vista senior dominated the 60 Hurdle field, running 9.13.
