Three Predictions For The Season Ahead: 5A

BONUS: An Epic Battle In The Sprints

Graduation did a number on the boy's sprints, but it appears that we've already got two insanely competitive sprint battles coming.

The Gavins - Gavin Schurr and Gavin Sawchuk are set to square off in the 100 and 200 this spring, and we should see some serious fireworks.

Sawchuk ran 6.78 in the 60 in January, which was a US No. 1 at the time (it's US No. 12 now), while Schurr ran the fastest indoor 200 by a Colorado high schooler when he dropped a 21.57 last month, which is a US No. 15. Additionally, Schurr has run 6.82 in the 60.

Outdoors, Sawchuck has the edge here, as he's run 10.62 in the 100 and 21.81 in the 200. The Valor Christian sophomore is the top returner in terms of speed in the 100.

Meanwhile, Schurr will enter the outdoor season as an underdog of sorts by comparison - he owns PRs of 10.97 in the 100 and 22.14. Though, The Fairview junior's 2020 indoor season has clearly shown that he's made The Jump, and is set for a big outdoor season.
