Silver Creek Alumni Valarie Allman Sets American Record


Silver Creek alumni Valarie Allman clearly took the past few months of minimal competition to make some serious gains...

The 2013 grad improved her personal best in the discus by three meters in

Rathdrum, Idaho, Saturday. The improvement broke the American Record. Allman's toss of 70.15 meters (230.1509 feet) broke the previous record by by nearly four feet.

A year ago Allman was the US National champion in the event, before going on to finish seventh at the World championships.

Over the past 20 years only two throwers - Sandra Perkovic of Croatia and Denia Caballero of Cuba - have thrown over 70 meters.

At Silver Creek Allman was a two-time state champion in the discus. She owned a high school best of 184-2 in the event.

She went on to Stanford for college, finishing third in the discus at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships in 2016 (and fifth the previous year). She owned a college PR of 208
