Q) Talk about the recruitment process - what other schools were youlooking at, and how did you come to choosing Furman University?

Recruiting was quite an extensive process that I took very seriously.  Beginning of my junior year I had the amazing opportunity to build relationships with coaches from Colorado, Oregon, Arkansas, New Mexico, Notre Dame, Boise State, Utah, NAU, and Vanderbilt. But it was Furman that stood out to me as a running program that is really special.

The athletes are very motivated to do some amazing things for Furman, and I definitely want to be a part of those goals. Not to mention the incredible coaching staff at Furman as well as other factors about Furman that match my preferences in a university including class size, academic excellence, and the gorgeous campus in Greenville, South Carolina.

Q) What do you plan to study at Furman?

I find the human mind very fascinating and I will be studying psychology at Furman.

Q) What would you consider to be your main event, and what event do you see yourself focusing on at Furman?

Right now, my main event is XC which in high school is a 5k but when I get to Furman the distance is 6k for women in certain NCAA events.  In the spring, I intend to focus on distance events on the track including the 3,000m, 5,000m, and would love to try the 10,000m.

Q) You had a massive breakthrough from sophomore to junior year (dropping your Colorado PR from 19:57 to 17:40)(also 20:12, 24th-place finish at State to WINNING in the fastest time of the day - 18:00),what would say attributed to your improvements?

Between sophomore and junior year I simply gained much more confidence in myself and my training. I was a lot more focused on my training and worked hard to gain fitness. I visualized that State meet almost daily during training and had my goals set high. Additionally, my junior year was the first year that I went to State with my team. That added a lot of extra motivation and inspiration knowing that I was not only performing for myself.

Q) The first result we have on you on MileSplit is a 23:38 5k, 18th place finish at the Basalt Longhorn Invite in August of 2017 - what do you remember from this competition?

Wow, that was a while ago and I don't remember a whole lot about my first high school race. I just remember being happy and thankful in the moment. I remember being super excited and grateful to be part of a high school XC team as an incoming freshman.

I have always tried to carry that same type of presence and gratitude into my competitive running. I know my finishes started to move up quickly from there, but I really don't feel like I was as competitive until about the spring of my sophomore track season.

Q) What got you interested in competing in XC/Track in the first place?

I never truly excelled in any of the many sports I tried growing up including softball, basketball, volleyball, or lacrosse. It wasn't until I went out for middle school track that I got a taste of competitive running. After my freshman year in high school I decided to go to a running camp over the summer which really inspired me and opened me up to the possibilities of competitive running.

Q) Favorite book, musical artist, and movie - GO:

My favorite book would have to be Live Fearless by Sadie Robertson. It was really awesome hearing about her personal stories that have helped her overcome outside pressure, anxiety, and fear. It was a very inspirational story.

My favorite musical artist is Jack Johnson, I grew up listening to him with my family and even went to one of his concerts!

My favorite movie is the Breaking 2 documentary. I watched it with my team at a team breakfast after a morning workout!

Q) What would your favorite high school moment be?

My favorite high school would be winning regionals with my team junior year. It was so amazing to see how much progression we made as a team. It was also a super fun race because it was held on our home course and many teachers/classmates came to support.
