Pair of Colorado Runners Named Big 12 Cross Country Runners of the Week

Joe Bosshard and Laura Thweatt (Colorado) have been named Big 12 Cross Country Runners of the Week. It is the first conference weekly award for both Bosshard and Thweatt.

MEN
Joe Bosshard, Colorado, Fr., Crested Butte, Colo.

Bosshard won the Fort Hays State Open 8K race with a time of 24:09.73, nine seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. It was his second win of the season in as many tries. The first-place finish in the freezing drizzle should earn Bosshard a spot on CU’s varsity roster for pre-nationals.

WOMEN
Laura Thweatt, Colorado, Jr., Durango, Colo.

Thweatt finished the 5K course more than 70 seconds faster than her nearest competition with a time of 17:05.27 at the Fort Hays State Open in Fort Hays, Kan. She broke the course record of 17:17, set in 1992 and became one of only five women to finish the course in under 18 minutes.
