Rippey 10th, Misutka 20th at AAU National Championships

A pair of Pennsylvania runners went down south and came away with solid showings at the AAU National Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida. In the 15-18 year-old girls division, Wilson's Caryn Rippey placed tenth in a time of 17:36, while North Allegheny's Keeley Misutka was 20th in 18:12.

The race was won by 2019 Foot Locker national champion Zofia Dudek. Dudek, who is a freshman at Stanford University, ran 16:16 for the win.

Rippey, who was second at the PIAA State Championships in early November, ran her fastest time of the season on Saturday with her first sub-18 performance of her career. That closes out a strong junior XC season for Rippey, who has continued to improve since emerging onto the scene last fall.

Misutka also ran a career best XC 5K, with her 18:12, which is a tick better than her winning time from the TSTCA Championships earlier this fall. Misutka was a strong top runner for the North Allegheny girls, which won its third straight PIAA Class AAA team title this fall.
