Fan Voting for The Bowerman Award Ends Friday

Collegiate track & field fans can cast votes for the 2009 men's and women's The Bowerman candidates until November 20th, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. central daylight time.

The Big 12 boasts four of the six finalists for the 2009 Bowerman Award, including all three finalists for the women’s award - Jenny Barringer (Colorado), Destinee Hooker (Texas) and Porscha Lucas (Texas A&M). German Fernandez (Oklahoma State) represents the Conference on the men’s side and Ashton Eaton and Galen Rupp of Oregon round out the men's ballot.

The four Big 12 finalists is more than any other conference. The Bowerman is an award which annually recognizes the most outstanding collegiate men’s and women’s track and field athletes.

The Bowerman Fan Vote will count for one vote of the overall final tally. The rest of the vote is determined by The Bowerman Voters, which is composed of NCAA collegiate administrators, national and regional media personnel, and track & field statisticians.

The 2009 announcement and presentation of the winner of The Bowerman will be held on December 16th, in conjunction with the 2009 USTFCCCA Convention at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes in Orlando, Florida. The three women’s finalists and three men’s finalists will be invited to the announcement and presentation of The Bowerman.
