Oklahoma State Wins Men?s NCAA Cross Country Championship

Oklahoma State won its second NCAA men's cross country championship and nine Big 12 student-athletes earned All-America Honors at the NCAA cross country championships in Terra Haute, Ind.

Ryan Vail was the first Cowboy to cross the finish line, placing seventh and earning All-America honors. Teammates Colby Lowe (eighth), John Kosgei (11th) and Girma Mecheso (24th) earned All-America honors as well to lead the way for OSU, who finished 16 points ahead of second-place Oregon.

The Cowboys have finished in the top 10 at the national meet every season under head coach Dave Smith, taking 10th in 2006, third in 2007, eighth in 2008 and first in 2009. Including this year's showing, OSU has produced eight cross country All-Americans in Smith's four years.

The Texas Tech women's team finished fourth overall and produced two All-Americans in Lillian Badaru and Purity Biwott, while Colorado's Allie McLaughlin finished fifth individually and earned the first All-America honor of her career.
