If the State Meet Were Held Today... 5A Boys

Palmer gets a solid contribution from Reggie Allison in both hurdle events and the triple jump. If the Terrors can all the pieces producing at the same time, they could make a run at state. Colorado Track XC file photos.

Everything is wide open in 5A boys. Littleton, the defending state champion, holds a precarious lead in a virtual meet based off the current rankings, but a large number of teams are within striking distance. And the teams within striking distance span the I-25 corridor--from Fort Collins to Fountain-Fort Carson.

Littleton, Loveland, and Fountain-Fort Carson each have strong relays and are traditional relay schools. The other contenders appear, at least at this point, to be of a mind to get it done without relays. This would include Fort Collins, Regis, Doherty, Arapahoe, and perhaps one or two more.

Arapahoe should eventually see a weightier contribution from Connor Winter than shows in the current rankings.

If Danny Nicolls and Andrew Goodman can get back to the track this spring, both could help their respective teams' chances in a significant way. Ben Goodman, Andrew's younger brother has been a noteworthy arrival on the 400 meter scene, and a very strong 400 meter scene it is right now.

Error Notice: Dave Day of ThunderRidge is currently showing twice in the high jump rankings. This should be fixed by tomorrow but is temporarily inflating the point total for ThunderRidge.
