Here are some of the best performances from this past weekend! Make sure to get your votes in my 11:59pm MT on Thursday, March 12th!
Niwot High School's 4x800m Relay Team: The boys from Niwot High School ran 7:48 for the relay at the St. Vrain RE-1J District Meet which is three seconds faster than the fastest time from last season! Considering it's only the first weekend of the track and field season, the state record of 7:42 may be in jeopardy this year.
Owen Twesme, Palmer Ridge High School: Another performance that is better than anyone else's performance from last season goes to Twesme, who threw 58-10 for the shot put at the Wolfpack Invite! That is nearly a five foot PR from last year.
Zaccary Southern, Wheat Ridge High School: No surprise that Southern started off this season strong, considering his impressive indoor season. Southern ran 10.66 in the 100m and a wind-aided 21.61 in the 200m at the Ralston Valley Invite, putting himself #1 for both events in Colorado!
Fort Collins High School's 4x100m Relay Team: Fort Collins ran a school record time of 41.61 in the 4x100m relay at the John Martin Early Bird Invite, which would have already been a top 10 performance in Colorado from last season! Considering the technicality of the handoffs in the 4x100m relay, running a time like that this early is incredibly impressive!
Isaac Baca, Grand Junction High School: Talk about a huge PR! Baca threw almost 40 feet further than he did last season in the discus to open up the season with a 180-7 at the Mesa County Invite! He also threw over 50 feet in the shot put, which was a huge personal best.
