Farrell, Crofford Named Big 12 Cross Country Runners of the Week

Tom Farrell (Oklahoma State) and Lara Crofford (Nebraska) have been named the first Big 12 Cross Country Runners of the Week of the 2010 season. It is the first conference weekly award for both student-athletes.

In the opening event of the season, Farrell earned first place at Tulsa's Hurricane Invitational. Farrell, who helped OSU go 5-0 in dual competition last weekend, ran the four-mile race with a time of 19:54. He led a trio of  Cowboys across the finish line in the top three places to help Oklahoma State defeat 12th-ranked Oklahoma, Tulsa, Oral Roberts, John Brown and Oklahoma Wesleyan.

Lara Crofford, Nebraska, Sr., Newville, Pa.
Crofford led the Huskers to a team title last weekend, as she captured her second career Creighton/UNO Classic individual title. She ran the 5K in a time of 18:11.42, which was 44 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. This is the first Big 12 Runner of the Week award for Nebraska since Kayte Tranel earned the honor in 2005.
