Nation, Vanatta Named Big 12 Cross Country Runners of the Week

Will Nation (Texas) and Kaitie Vanatta (Missouri) have been named the Big 12 Cross Country Runners of the Week for the second week of the 2010 season. Nation is the second Big 12 freshman to earn the award during 2010.  Vanatta claimed her second conference weekly award, as she was last named the Big 12 Runner of the Week on Sept. 15, 2009. On the women's side, just two Tiger runners have captured the award since 2006.

Nation captured his first collegiate cross country title at the Texas-Texas State dual meet. Nation led the 8k competition with a time of 25:32.4. He led seven Longhorns to place in the top-eight finishers at the dual as Texas captured the team title. Nation is the first Horn to earn Runner of the Week honors since 2008.
