Bristyl Barratt, Cheraw High School: Though Barratt is only a freshman, she is already showing lot of potential in handful of events including the hurdles and the distance events. So far, Barratt is ranked #1 in the 800m, the 1600m, and the 100m hurdles. She has personal best times of 2:23, 5:23, and 16.77! She definitely will have a lot of options going into the state meet, and she will be one to watch for the rest of the 2026 season!
Roxy Unruh, Cheyenne Wells High School: Unruh has won tons of state title throughout her high school career, so it is no surprise that she is one of the top runners in Class 1A. So far this season, she has run 12.49 in the 100m, 26.72 in the 200m, 1:01 in the 400m, and she ran her first 800m, clocking a time of 2:33. Unruh is the 2x state champion in the 100m, 200m, and 400m, so she will be the one to beat once again for this season.
Ashlynn Steinbrunn, McClave High School: There were a handful of seniors that graduated this past season in the hurdle events, making Steinbrunn one of the top returners in the 100m hurdles and the 300m hurdles. She is currently ranked #2 in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.06 and is ranked #1 in the 300m hurdles with a time of 50.11.
Cameron Skoloda, Ouray High School: Currently Skoloda is ranked #1 in the 3200m for class 1A with a strong time of 12:00! Skoloda is only a freshman, so this is her first time ever running the race, and she put together a great first effort. She also ran 5:40 in the 1600m which is ranked #4 in Class 1A.
Hayden Eggleston, Cotopaxi High School: The sprints are definitely competitive with Unruh and Eggleston, with Eggleston finishing 2nd overall in the 100m, 200m, and the 400m last season at the state meet. Eggleston is ranked #1 in the 200m and the 400m so far with times of 25.50 and 57.97. Her 200m time is a brand new personal best and she is very close to her PR in the 400m.
Hannah Kugler, Prairie High School: Kugler finished 2nd overall in high jump at the state meet last season and is currently ranked #1 in Class 1A in the event with a jump of 5-2! That mark is one she needed to finish 2nd overall, so she is showing a lot of potential to shoot for a state title in the event. She has also triple jumped 33-6.5 so far this season ranking her at #4 for the classification.
Suvaun Cook, Peetz High School: Cook is currently ranked quite well in both the long jump and the triple jump, hitting a personal best in the triple jump of 34-11! She has also long jumped 16-10 this season, which is only one inch from her PR. She is ranked #1 in long jump and #2 in triple jump.
Tailee Weeks-Johnson, Eads High School: Last season, Weeks-Johnson finished 2nd overall in the shot put and finished 4th overall in the discus at the state meet with personal best mark of 39-10.25 in shot put and a season best mark of 110-6! She is currently ranked #1 in shot put this season with a mark of 38-0 and ranked #3 in discus with a new PR of 111-10!
Reagan Jones, Haxtun High School: The current top spot for the discus in Class 1A goes to Jones, who threw 120-1 so far this season! She is only off of her PR of 124-4 by a few feet, and she is also the returning runner-up at the state meet for the event! Jones also threw the shot put 35-11.75, which is a brand new PR.
Ryann Svoboda, Caliche High School: Svoboda won the state title in the shot put last season, throwing the shot put 40-3 for her personal best! She is definitely one of the top returners in the event and so far this season, she has thrown 37-3 in shot put and 116-0 in discus, which is a huge PR for her! She is ranked #2 in both events!
