Braylon Brown, Niwot High School: Brown is currently the top 9th grader in the 3200m after a very strong effort at the Niwot Invitational a couple weeks ago! He also has run 4:31 in the 1600m, which ranks him #3 for all freshmen in the event. Brown had a very successful cross country season, so it should be no surprises he is hitting such strong times for the spring season with only a few races under his belt. Brown ended his cross country season with a time of 15:59 at the RunningLane XC Championships, breaking a huge barrier of sub 16-minutes in the 5k! Brown will be a huge asset for this squad as he continues to improve and get stronger throughout this season and his running career. It will be exciting to see what he can do in the other distance events and how he can improve for this season.
Joshua Stewart, Cherokee Trail High School: Stewart was a very successful hurdler his 9th grade year and ran a wind-aided time of 14.71 in the 110m hurdles. Naturally, Stewart is having a very strong outdoor season so far for his sophomore year, running 14.16 in the 110m hurdles and running a strong time of 40.73 in the 300m hurdles! He is the top ranked sophomore in the 110m hurdles and he is #3 overall in the whole state of Colorado! He is also ranked #6 for all sophomores in the whole nation! Though he is clearly a strong short hurdler, Stewart has shown a lot of improvement in the 300m hurdles as well. He is currently #23 in the whole state for the event and he is #2 for all sophomores. With already strong experience competing at the state meet, Stewart is a strong candidate to win a state title in the future and potentially even this year depending on how he improves.
