Congratulations to Antheney Herre of Thompson Valley High School for winning last week's performer of the week with his strong finish in the 1600m, running a time of 4:12! Make sure to get your votes in for this week before Thursday, April 16th at 11:59pm MT! Here are the nominees for this week!
Jackson Conroy, Loveland High School: It is a great time to be a hurdle fan in Colorado. Conroy broke the Pomona Invitational meet record, running a fantastic time of 13.54 to win the 110m hurdles! He ran a huge personal best and regained the top spot in the state of Colorado in the event. He is also #4 all-time for the state.
Cadel Ruthven, Fort Collins High School: The Arcadia Invitational is one of the most competitive meets in the whole country, especially in the distance events, so to just compete in the invitational section is an honor. However, Ruthven raced to an impressive victory in the 1 Mile Invitational, running a time of 4:07 for the full mile and splitting 57 seconds for the last lap!
Tayber Konrad, Roosevelt High School: Konrad won the shot put at the Pomona Invitational, throwing a mark of 56-11! This throw puts him #2 for the state rankings and in the top spot for Class 4A! His mark was a brand new personal best by almost two feet!
Jackson Ferguson, Golden High School: The sophomore pulled off an impressive double victory in the 1600m and the 3200m at the Pomona Invitational! He ran 9:10 Friday night for the 3200m and doubled back the next day to run 4:19 for the victory in the 1600m. Both marks were new personal bests by a significant margin!
Owen Hays, Roosevelt High School: It is hard not to nominate Hays again after the weekend he just had at the Pomona Invitational. Hays ran 13.71 in the 110m hurdles in the preliminary round for a new personal best, then placed 4th overall in the 100m final in a time of 10.75. Finally, he topped off his impressive weekend with a new personal best, meet record, and overall state record in the 300m hurdles! He won the race in an incredible time of 36.14, which is also ranked #4 in the nation!
Case Matteson, Legend High School: Matteson had a huge performance at the Pomona Invitational, running 10.57 in the 100m to win the event! His time is currently the top wind-legal time in the state of Colorado. He also ran a big personal best by almost a tenth of a second!
