Drayden Black, Yuma Middle School: Black has been a top of the middle school rankings all season and has performed well once again this past weekend. He holds a personal best time of 10.65 in the 100m and 22.03 in the 200m! He has also run under 11 seconds multiple times this season and under 23 seconds in the 200m! Finally, he is ranked #2 in the 400m running 54.37.
Gabriel Mott, Resurrection Christian Middle School: Mott ranks #1 in the 400m for 8th graders with a time of 54.20! He also has a personal best time of 2:26 in the 800m showing some versatility in his longer sprints and the middle distance events. Mott has also only competed in one official meet, so there is still a lot of potential to improve.
William Pureco, Wray Junior High: Pureco is one of the only two 8th graders who have broken 5 minutes in the 1600m, running a time of 4:59! He is ranked #2 for the class and is also ranked #1 in the 800m with a strong time of 2:16.
Tristan Schildt, Altona Middle School: Schildt is the other name in the class who has broken 5 minutes in the 1600m, running an impressive time of 4:46 for the race! He has the #1 ranking for all middle school and has a personal best time of 2:18 in the 800m, which is ranked #3 for the class.
Myles Velasquez, Colorado Springs Christian Middle School: At the top of the 110m hurdles rankings for 8th graders is Velasquez, who has run 17.93 for the race! He also has PRs of 12.64 in the 100m and 26.19 in the 200m.
Carter Morris, Liberty Common Middle School: Though Morris has only run in a handful of meets so far this season, he has done quite well in both the 100m and the 200m hurdles. He has a personal best time of 11.53 in the 100m, which is ranked #3 for 8th graders and has run 26.90 in the 200m hurdles!
Aysen Franz, West Middle School: Franz holds personal best times of 11.64 in the 100m and 24.05 in the 200m, ranking him quite well for all 8th graders! He is currently #4 in both the 100m and the 200m for the grade.
Benton Melia, Burlington Middle School: #2 on the 110m hurdles list for 8th graders is Melia, who has run 17.96 for the race and also has a very strong time in the 200m hurdles of 28.33! On top of all that, he has a personal best time of 25.13 in the 200m giving him a good balance of speed and hurdling technique.
Cecil Mcatee, Limon Middle School: Mcatee has competed in everything from the 100m up the 800m and is ranked very well in the 400m and the 800m for the class rankings. He is sitting at #3 for the 400m with a time of 54.50 and is #5 in the 800m with a time of 2:20. Finally, he has PRs of 12.13 and 24.89, making him a well-rounded sprinter.
Lewis Kipchumba, Thomas MacLaren Middle School: Kipchumba has only raced in one official meet so far, but has already almost broken 5 minutes in the 1600m, running a time of 5:05! He is currently #3 for 8th graders in the event. He also ran 2:25 in the 800m.
