Addyson Smith, Fossil Ridge High School: Smith finished 2nd overall at the state meet last year in both the 100m and the 200m, and so far this season, Smith is showing that she is the one to beat this year. She has run 11.68 for the 100m, 23.82 in the 200m, and she has also hit a huge mark of 18-9 in long jump! She is #1 in the state for both the 100m and the 200m and sits at #2 in the long jump.
Emry Schwalm, Heritage High School: Schwalm is one of the best distance runners in Colorado, and she is ranked quite well in both the 1600m and 3200m. Recently, Schwalm ran 4:54 in the 1600m to win the Pueblo Twilight, which ranks her #2 for Class 5A! She has also ran 10:34 in the 3200m, which places her #2 as well for Class 5A! The rankings are very tight on the distance side, so it will be exciting to see who comes out on top.
Madison Lange, Cherokee Trail High School: Though she is only a freshman, Lange is ranked highly in all three distance events, with very strong personal bests in the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m. For the 800m, Lange has run 2:11 and for the 1600m, she has run 4:47! Both of those times were run at sea level, so her ranking is a little lower based on her altitude times, but shows her potential in the events. For the 3200m, she has run 10:33, which is the top time in Class 5A.
Payton Meineke, Riverdale Ridge High School: Class 5A definitely has a strong group of ladies who have a good balance between all the distance events including Meineke, who is ranked well in all three distance events.She is sitting at #1 for the 1600m with a time of 4:53, #4 in the 800m with a time of 2:13, and #6 in the 3200m with a time of 10:46! She has a lot of experiencing placing well at the state meet, so she will be one to look out for.
Jenna Winn, Eaglecrest High School: Winn has slowly made some huge improvements this season in the 800m, where she started off the season running 2:18 for the event but recently she has run 2:11, putting her at #1 for Class 5A! On top of that, she has also run 5:00 for the 1600m, showing a good balance between strength and speed.
Payton Mathelier, Mountain Vista High School: At the top of the Class 5A rankings for the 400m is Mathelier, who has run 54.29 for the event! She also has personal best times of 12.00 in the 100m and 24.58 in the 200m. She is ranked in the top 8 for both the 100m and the 200m, making her very versatile in all the long and the short sprints.
Amber Calender, Northfield High School: Calender has made huge improvements in the 100m hurdles, especially throughout the winter season, making her the top hurdler in the whole state! So far Calender has run 13.76 in the 100m hurdles and has run under 14 seconds multiple times this season, making her incredibly consistent! On top of that, Calender has also run 12.08 in the 100m and 24.59 in the 200m.
Alexa Queen, Fountain-Fort Carson High School: Last season, Queen finished 2nd overall in the 100m hurdles and 1st overall in the 300m hurdles at the state meet. Going into this season, Queen is once again one of the top hurdlers in the state, running 13.98 in the 100m hurdles and 42.29 in the 300m hurdles! She is ranked #2 in the state of Colorado for the 100m hurdles and #1 in the 300m hurdles, making her the clear favorite for the 300m hurdles state title.
Renata Bergstrom, Cherry Creek High School: There has only been two girls who have gotten over 13-0 in pole vault in the state of Colorado this year and Bergstrom is one of those girls! She has a personal best vault of 13-0 and is tied for the top pole vaulter in the state of Colorado, and she is the top vaulter in Class 5A. She is also ranked #4 in the triple jump with a mark of 37-4!
Pooja Srikanth, Rock Canyon High School: A top of the triple jump rankings in Class 5A is Srikanth, who has a huge mark of 38-6! Last season she finished 5th overall at the state meet in the event, but she looks to be one of the favorites to win title this year! She has consistently jumped over 37 feet, definitely making her one of the favorites for the title.
Adalyn Stubbs, Douglas County High School: Stubbs has had a huge improvement in the shot put, and that improvement has put her at the top of the rankings for Class 5A! She threw 40-8.5 to take that top spot, improving by over six feet from last season! She has also thrown the discus 121-3 which ranks her #10 in Class 5A.
Zenobia Witt, Eaglecrest High School: Though Witt has not competed much this season, she is still one of the favorites in the long jump and the hurdles. In the long jump in her first outdoor meet of the season, she jumped a huge mark of 19-11.5! If she is able to come back and compete then she will still be a tough one to beat considering she has won back-to-back state titles in long jump.
Kaia Bennett, Rocky Mountain High School: Bennett had a huge breakthrough performance this past weekend in the discus, throwing a big mark of 134-4 to put herself in the top spot for Class 5A in the event and #6 for the whole state of Colorado! She started off the season at just over 100 feet and improved with each throw, showing her potential in the event.
