Colorado definitely had a good showing at the RunningLane Track Championships this past week with many names finishing within the top 8 of their heats and in the championship division! Colorado also ended with one victory in the 3200m Championship, making this one of Colorado's better showings at the event! Take a look at some of the names that competed well at the championship!
Levi Smela, Thompson Valley High School: In the championship division of the 800m, Smela finished an impressive 2nd overall, running a time of 1:51 - a new personal best! He was also the fastest Coloradan at the meet in the event.
Xzavier Campos, Coronado High School: Campos finished 6th overall in the championship division for the 800m, running a time of 1:52! He also ran in the championship race of the mile, running 4:20.
Lincoln Fagerlin, Resurrection Christian High School: Fagerlin ran a small personal best of 1:53 in the 800m Championship to place 8th overall! This race was definitely redemption after getting disqualified at the state meet in the 800m.
Ayuub Hassan, Northfield High School: Just finishing behind Fagerlin, Hassan also ran 1:53 to place 9th overall in the championship 800m race. With this 9th place finish, he followed up his impressive 4th place finish in Class 5A at the state meet.
Abdinasir Hassan, Northfield High School: Abdi took the victory in the 3200m Championship in an impressive time of 8:43, which was a new personal best for the sophomore! He also placed 3rd in the championship mile, running a new PR of 4:04.
Wyatt Dann, Castle View High School: Dann improved upon his performance from last season running 8:49 and placing 6th overall in the championship division! He is also only a sophomore, showing a lot of potential!
Liam Folk, Heritage High School: Folk finished a few seconds behind Dann in the championship division of the 3200m, running 8:56 and placing 7th overall! This is also his second time running under 9 minutes in the event.
Trent Gabrielson, Thompson Valley High School: Gabrielson broke 9 minutes for the first time in the 3200m, running a time of 8:57 and placing 10th overall in the championship race! He also ran 4:11 for the mile and placed 4th overall in his heat.
Benjamin Olds, Palmer Ridge High School: Olds also broke 9 minutes in the 3200m, finishing just behind Gabrielson with a time of 8:57 and placing 11th overall. He also ran a huge personal best of 4:09 in mile, to win the 2nd heat!
Carson Smith, Air Academy High School: Smith finished 3rd overall in his heat of the mile, running 4:10 for the race! His time was one of the faster times for Coloradans at this meet.
