As we get closer to the different national meets coming up next week, here are some names that have put together some strong performances so far this summer on the girls' side, either in Colorado or out of state!
Taniya Thomas, Grandview High School: At the Denver Twilight: The Premier, Thomas placed 2nd overall in the fast heat of the 200m, running a very impressive time of 24.99! Her time is even more impressive considering she just finished her 9th grader year of high school!
Madeline Clark, Mountain View High School: Clark ran at the Elite Sprint Festival in Englewood in various events, but her best result was her 400m time of 56.66, winning the event. She then raced the 800m at the HOKA Festival of Miles, where she ran small personal best, placing 5th overall in a time of 2:08.20!
Zenobia Witt, Eaglecrest High School: At the Denver Twilight: The Premier, Witt placed 1st overall in the 100m hurdles, running a strong time of 14.38. Then she competed in the long jump, winning that event in an impressive mark of 19-8.5! Witt has been incredibly consistent in long jump this spring season and so far this summer and almost never jumps under 19 feet!
Jayla Ray, Air Academy High School: Ray hit a huge all-conditions personal best mark in the long jump at the Colorado Springs Striders Invitational. She got out to 19-6.75 and finished 1st overall in the entire meet! She is also only the 3rd girl in Colorado this season to jump over 19 feet.
Delaney Reuter, Eaton High School: Reuter ran a new personal best of 4:52 for mile at the HOKA Festival of Miles, where she finished 11th overall in the elite section. Her en route 1600m split was 4:50, which was also another personal best for the junior.
Malanya Gaines, Eaglecrest High School: Gaines started her summer track season with a strong time of 2:20 in the 800m to win the event at the Elite Sprint Festival! She then went on to run 57.82 to place 1st overall in the 400m at the Denver Twilight: The Premier! Her 800m time was only a couple seconds from her PR and her 400m time was over a second personal best from the spring season!
