Across the country from Nike, Franklin Field in Philadelphia hosted New Balance Nationals over the same days - Thursday, June 18th to Sunday, June 21st, and Colorado had a handful of athletes who competed in Philadelphia and performed quite well! Take a look at the list below of some of the top finishers!
Girls 100m Hurdles: Colorado almost got two athletes into the final, which is very impressive considering how competitive the sprint and hurdle events are at New Balance. Zenobia Witt ran 13.94 in the first round of the event finishing 12th overall and then went on to run 13.85 in the semifinal round to place 10th overall, missing finals by two places. However, Amber Calender did make the finals and ran a new wind legal personal best! In the first round, she ran 13.66, finishing 5th overall. She then ran a PR of 13.40 in the semifinal round to finish 3rd. Finally, she placed 6th overall in the final round with a time of 13.60! 
Girls Long Jump: After a strong finish in the 100m hurdles, Witt broke the 20 foot barrier for this season and long jumped over 20-2! She has consistently jumped in the 19 foot range, with many of her marks very close to getting over 20 feet for her junior year. Boys 400m Hurdles: Jaydan Martinez competed in the final section of the 400m hurdles and gave himself a chance to finish high on the podium. He got out extremely hard and gave it his all eventually finishing with a time of 54.63, which earned him 15th overall! In an earlier heat, Charlie Taylor competed well and finished just behind Martinez time-wise, running 54.65 and placing 17th overall.
Boys Mile: Jay McDonald has been incredibly busy the past couple of weeks, competing in some of the biggest meets of the season, but he ended with his best result at New Balance, where he ran a time of 4:04 in the mile to place 3rd overall! He also ran the 800m, running a time of 1:51.
