The Liberty Bell Cross Country Invitational has a track record for producing fast times.
On Saturday, Abdinasir Hassan took fast to another level.
The Northfield junior flew to victory in a remarkable 14:24.56, breaking the all-time Liberty Bell course record and leading an incredibly deep field at one of Colorado's biggest early-season meets.
On the girls side, Cherokee Trail sophomore Madison Lange delivered a massive performance of her own, racing to victory in 16:30.29 and taking down Eaton standout Delaney Reuter in the process.
With fast times, deep fields and impressive team performances, Liberty Bell once again delivered.
Hassan Makes History
All eyes were on a loaded boys field entering Liberty Bell.
as the finish line approached, the day belonged to Hassan.
The Northfield junior absolutely torched the 5K course in 14:24.56, establishing a new all-time course record, (taking down Parker Wolfe's previous record of 14:30.1). He put considerable separation between himself and one of the deepest groups of runners Colorado has seen this season. Establishing himself as the true contender this season.
Behind Hassan, the battle amongst the top ten was very close.
Heritage senior Liam Folk earned runner-up in 14:42.35, while defending Liberty Bell champion and reigning Class 5A state champion Benjamin Adams of Mountain Vista finished on his heels for third, in 14:42.80.
Fort Collins junior Will Johns would finish with the same 14:42.80 mark in fourth.
And the times continued to fly in.
Tommy Gamlin of Chaparral finished fifth in 14:43.02, followed directly by Valor Christian's Lucas Santos in 14:43.07 and Loveland Classical's Antheney Herre in 14:43.78, besting his 2A state record.
The Castle View twins Evan Dann and Wyatt Dann crossed eighth and ninth in 14:44.09 and 14:47.66, respectively, while Mead senior Josh Knight would round out the top 10 in 14:48.63.
It is noteworthy that the entire top 10 broke 14:49, which is truly incredible and speaks to the depths of talent in Colorado.
Ultimately at the very front, there could be no doubt...
14:24.56. A new Liberty Bell course record. A statement victory for Abdinasir Hassan.
Lange Makes A Statement

The boys were not the only ones producing eye-opening times.
Madison Lange entered Liberty Bell as one of the names to watch.
She left as one of the biggest stories of the weekend.
The Cherokee Trail sophomore raced to a blazing 16:30.29, taking the victory by more than 10 seconds over one of the country's strongest distance runners.
Delaney Reuter finished runner-up in 16:40.85, with a new course PR.
Reuter entered the weekend as the two-time defending Class 3A state cross country champion after finishing 10th at Nike Cross Nationals last fall and winning the 5,000 meters at Nike Outdoor Nationals this past June.
However on Saturday, Lange had the upper hand.
For a runner only in her sophomore season, this performance was as a major early-season statement.
Behind the top two, Loveland sophomore Brynn Torres continued her strong start to the fall, taking third in 17:09.60.
Out of Wyoming, from Cheyenne Central senior Adalyn Racines followed in fourth at 17:13.98, while Heritage freshman Ella McGowan turned in an impressive 17:20.89 to finish fifth (top freshman in the field).

Summit's Kayla Broecker was sixth in 17:21.68, followed by Regis Jesuit standout McKenna Groen in 17:28.45.
Boulder's Calia Vaughn finished eighth in 17:28.58, Arapahoe's Maeve Vancik took ninth in 17:29.10, and Maggie Madsen from Cheyenne East (Wyoming) completed the top 10 in 17:29.19.
Nine girls were under 17:30, adding even more depth to a race highlighted by Lange's 16:30 performance at the front.
Boulder Takes The Girls Team Crown

While Lange captured the individual spotlight, the ladies of Boulder High School came away with the team victory.
The Panthers scored 98 points to take the Liberty Bell title, putting together the strongest overall performance in a deep girls field. That is two back to back team titles for Boulder this fall.
Host Heritage High School finished runner-up with 123 points, led at the front by freshman Ella McGowan's fifth-place finish.
A year after Heritage won the Liberty Bell girls team title, Boulder flipped the script and walked away with the victory.
Castle View Captures Boys Team Title
While Hassan rode to victory individually, Castle View put together a seriously impressive performance in the team race.
The Sabercats not only captured the Liberty Bell boys team title with 93 points, but they backed it with an incredible 15:10 scoring average.
The Dann brothers provided two major low sticks, with Evan finishing eighth and Wyatt following in ninth.
In a meet as deep as Liberty Bell, having two runners inside the top 10 helped set the tone for a Castle View squad that showed its tremendous strength throughout the lineup.
Mountain Vista finished runner-up with 129 points, led by Adams' third-place performance.
With much racing left this fall, Castle View's performance provided an early indication of just how dangerous the Sabercats could be as the season continues.
Liberty Bell Delivers Again
There is a reason Liberty Bell remains one of the most anticipated meets on Colorado's early-season calendar. It is electric, it is lightning fast and it brings the hype!
Saturday showcased just that.
Hassan rewrote the record books with his 14:24.56.
Lange proved herself with a 16:30.29 victory over one of the nation's top returning runners.
Castle View backed up its talented front end with a fierce 15:10 team average and secured the boys team championship and Boulder walked away with yet another girls team crown.
