This Week's Nominees:
Broly Watts, Central Grand Junction High School (Colorado): A 15:47.58 clocking over the 5K distance carried the Delta-Sweitzer Lake Invitational, with the field of 133 finishers left 14.7 seconds behind at the line for first place. That time stands as the fastest in MileSplit's database at Sweitzer Lake State Park since 2015 among 669 athletes, and it's also the fastest senior time there among 222 senior athletes over that span.
Josh Cuzner, Frederick High School (Colorado): Covered the 5K distance in 18:03.30 to win the Runners Roost Invitational by 13.5 seconds over a field of 260. The time lands at No. 208 among 2,877 athletes in MileSplit's database at Adams County Regional Park XC Course since 2011, and No. 92 among 850 senior athletes there over that same period.
Kahlael Allen, Northfield High School (Colorado): First place out of 190 finishers at the Dave Sanders Invitational came via an 18:02.40 clocking over the 5K distance, good for a 21.0-second margin at the front of the pack. In MileSplit's database, that effort ranks #1391 of 10,001 athletes at Clement Park XC Course since 2008, and #686 of 4,041 junior athletes over that span.
Darin Marschall, Doherty High School (Colorado): A tight 1.7-second margin decided the Canon City Middle and High School Cross Country Invitational, where a 15:10.10 clocking over the 5K distance was enough for first place out of 339 finishers. The performance is the fastest in MileSplit's database at Royal Gorge Bridge and Park since 2012 among 1,511 athletes, and the fastest senior mark there among 459 senior athletes. It also improved on a prior mark of 16:48.60 on this course, 98.5 seconds faster than that previous effort.
David Roberts, Roosevelt High School (Colorado): Topping an 84-runner field at the Legacy Lightning Invitational, a 5K time of 15:51.48 secured first place by 13.7 seconds. That mark sits at No. 9 among 5,051 athletes in MileSplit's database at Broomfield County Commons Park since 2008, and No. 5 among 1,620 junior athletes there over the same span.
