Helen Gover went from seventh at middle school state last year to an easy first on the Centaurus team on Friday. Colorado Track XC file photo by Alan Versaw.
The New Balance Valmont race was run in separate sections again this year, seven each for boys and girls. The best word I have from those attending is that this year's course should be treated as a three-mile course.
Although conditions were not equal for all seven girlss races, the best we can do for a team analysis is to simply merge the results for the seven races and team score it. Doing that leaves us with Broomfield coming out easily on top of the girls scoring, though with Ivy Gonzales leading the pack for the Eagles. Centaurus showed well, paced by freshman Helen Gover. And Horizon is still looking to close down their 3-4 gap. If the Hawks do that, this team will be dangerous. For Lyons, it's good to note that CeAnn Udovich is back--and running at the front of the pack.
