Mountain Vista tops the charts heading into the 2018 season.

Mountain Vista.

Enough said. Right?

Battle Mountain was the stunner at NXN last year, but on paper, as in PRs, no one can keep pace with Mountain Vista. They will clearly be a threat on that national level this year.

In this massive all-classification state mash-up, Vista Nation has three runners within the top eight overall, and all five within the top 43. And - a staggering 17:59 team average. They've got a 75-second 1-5 split, which doesn't say much when your No. 1 runner has a 17:20 PR. Additionally, they've got three sub 18 5kers, and last year their entire top five went under 18:35.

By comparison, no one compares.

Battle Mountain is a clear No.2 here on this list with a 18:35 team average, two in the top 12 led by the Harding sisters, and all five within the top 104.

It's clear who is No.1, and No. 2, but what about everyone else?

Valor ChristianCherokee Trail, and Durango round out the top-five in a tight battle. Valor Christian's top-thee almost rival Battle Mountain. Almost.

Valor Christian has the firepower up front, but they'll need to close the gap with their fifth runner to truly hold their own, because hot on their heels is Cherokee Trail.

Cherokee Trail has perhaps one of the best 1-5 splits at 1:00. They've got a stellar pack, but they'll need a front-runner, or front runners to make the difference. On the other side of the spectrum, Durango has a front runner, like Valor, they'll just need to tighten up the gap between their third and fifth runners.
