Who runs over four minutes faster than they ran as a freshman at State?
2018 4A State Champ Layla Roebke.
The recently crowned state champ ran 22:49 as a freshmen, finishing 172nd.
You read that right.
Take that as motivation: You can finish 172nd at State your freshmen year, and still go on to win a state title your senior year.
And hot on her heels were a few big names as well. Caitlin McConnell, Tiya Chamberlin Katie Flaherty, and Lizzy Harding - all big names on the Colorado running scene this year, and all made over two minute leaps of improvement from their freshmen year.
Another big leap of improvement - second only to Roebke - came from Gunniosn's Esperenza Antonarez, who went from 24:43 to 21:27.
