Florence's Kylie Simshauser leads four of this year's top 10 into 2019.
The 2018 3A girl's race was something that almost no one could've predicted. Even so, in looking at next year's race we can at least make some educated guesses...
The top five from this year all graduated, leaving the door wide open for a new champion. On paper the favorite heading into 2019 is Florence's Kylie Simshauser. She's the top returner, but she is in no way alone, as there are a few more in the mix.
The Classical Academy returns Kennedy McDonald, and Rebecca Thompson, and Eliana Thompson is just a few seconds back. McDonald was the top freshman this year, and Thompson is the younger sister of 2018 state champ Kaylee Thompson. And speaking of freshmen, Eliana Thompson - no relation to Rebecca and Kaylee - was the second freshmen in this year's race.
What does all of this tell us? The 2019 individual title is up for grabs...
The Classical Academy flipped the script on nearly everyone this year. So what can we expect for the 2019 race?
TCA returns four from their state championship squad, while Peak to Peak returns three. If there's any one team to really keep a close eye on it's D'Evelyn. This year's third-place squad returns their entire top five, and six of their top seven.
Likewise, Frontier Academy returns six of seven, including their top five, Moffat returns five of seven, and hold on - look out for Aspen, they return their entire squad.
