On paper the team race looks insanely close between The Classical Academy, Lutheran, and Peak to Peak. And when I say "insanely close," I'm talking about fractions of points close. If the state meet were run today, there'd be a two-way tie between TCA and Lutheran, and Peak to Peak would be a half-point back - that's how close it's shaping up to be in the team race.
Imagine that - we might have another TCA verses Peak to Peak battle for a state team title, like cross country...
With the graduation of The Mya Evans, we'll see a new state champion in the sprints. In the 100 it looks like a three way battle between Rebecka Ballard, and the Eaton duo of Lainee Hauer and Michaela Hill.
The 200 looks similar. Lilly Lavier is the top returning, though keep an eye on Nya Henderson - she ran the fastest returning time in the prelims last year. Meanwhile, the 400 looks like another insanely close race, as last year's finals were entirely void of seniors.
Aryelle Wright and Regan Aurich were only separated by a hundredth of a second last year. Wright will likely want to defend her title, while Aurich is likely thinking about how close she came to a state title. But keep an eye on Ashten Loeks - she ran 57.03 in the prelims, which was the fastest returning time from the state meet.
