Samrawit Dishon (left) returns as the fastest girl in the senior class.
It's officially July, which means we can start talking about cross country! So - let's kick off the 2019 pre-season with a list of the fastest senior girls.
Some of the names on this list have been storming over Colorado's cross country courses in the fronts of the packs for the past three years, and some of these names have had a very sharp curve of improvement over the past year.
Leading the charge is Niwot's Samrawit Dishon, who arguably has the biggest upswing in potential heading into the 2019-20 season.
Dishon's 17:24 from Desert Twilight tops the list. Injury hampered the remainder of her 2018 season, however, though she did rally during track for a runner-up finish in the 3,200, and a fifth-place finish in the 1,600.
Eagle Valley's Joslin Blair is the second fastest returner - by one second. Her 17:25 from the same race (Desert Twilight) comes in No. 2, and it's likely we'll see quite a battle in 4A between her and Dishon - Blair finished one place ahead of Dishon in the 1,600, and one place behind her in the 3,200.
Coming in No. 3 on this list is two-time 5A cross country state champ Jenna Fitzsimmons.
Injury sidelined her for the entirety of the 2019 track season, though her 17:29 from Liberty Bell last fall was not only the third fastest time run by a member of the Class of 2020, but it was the fastest time run in Colorado.
Teammate Sarah O'Sullivan is a close No. 4 with her 17:32 from NXR-Southwest.
It took a 18:02.00 to crack the Top 10 of this list.
