This list goes 100 deep!
As per the trend, Mountain Vista returns as the fastest team in the state. They've got three of the top 10 individuals, which makes this one a no-brainer.
Vista Nation has three sub-18 runners from 2018, which includes 2 x defending state champ Jenna Fitzsimmons, Sarah O'Sullivan, and Madison Reed.
Their 17:55 team average from 2018 easily tops this list, and their 59-second 1-5 gap is unrivaled within the Top 5 fastest squads. Add that their fifth-fastest returning runner (Shantell Hafner) still cracked 18:30 last year, and they've got six under 18:33.
While the root of this article is about speed, keep an eye on last year's fifth-place Nike Cross Nationals finisher: Niwot.
They've got two sub 18 5kers in Samrawit Dishon, and Taylor James. The 4A state champs return a team average of 18:18, and a 1-5 split of 1:52.
Cherokee Trail returns as the third-fastest squad from 2018. Their 18:28 team average is aided drastically by 17:17 5ker Cameron McConnell, who is the fastest returning runner in the state.
Air Academy, Battle Mountain, and Cherry Creek are all just seconds back in reference to team averages.
Among the many squads to keep an eye on in coming months is Fossil Ridge. They've got the best 1-5 split of any team in the top 10 at 55 seconds.
Editor's Note: This list is compiled of individual personal bests, many of which were run out of state at lower elevations. This fact obviously puts an asterisk in the "speed" aspect, given that not every team/individual was able to compete at Desert Twilight, NXR, or NXN.
