Based on 2018 personal bests, the defending champs look like the team to beat.
Between defending state champ Katie Fankhouser, and last year's runner-up Quin Gregg, add Hannah Thomas to the mix, and the Lions look to be one insanely tough squad to beat.
There really isn't much to counter a 1-2 punch like that when their 1-2 are finishing 1-2 in the state. Additionally, a 19:39 team average and 1-3 split of 2:27 begs for a challenger.
And if they've got a challenger, it could come from Buena Vista.
Like Lyons, Buena Vista has a solid 1-2 punch with Mallory Salazar and Molly McMurry. Collectively they've got a team average of 20:47, and a 1-3 split of 1:41.
Platte Canyon is a squad with likewise potential. And on paper - in terms of speed - they're just inches behind Buena Vista.
They return 19:31 5ker Emma Dikken, along with Hannah Grover and Ilese Kitterman to the mix. They share the same team average of 20:47 with Buena Vista.
Editor's Note: Some of the times listed were run at lower elevations, which will make the team average a little faster.
