Hello Track Fans,

Lyons and Longmont High Schools are excited to host this years St. Vrain Invitational on Friday, May 12th, featuring 50 of the top high school teams in the state along with elite athletes from around the world competing for prize money in the 100, 200, 400, Mile and Pole Vault (conducted on the infield on a portable runway). The meet will take place at Everly-Montgomery Field adjacent to Longmont High School and follows the schedule below. Thanks to New Balance, Whole Foods, Abover the Bar, and other local sponsors, the meet is able to bring Olympic athletes from several countries, including the USA, to showcase their talents and also give back to the sport with a clinic on Saturday morning (see more information below). The Mens Mile has been building a prize purse for the last few years and now has $7000 waiting for a time under the current Colorado record of 4:01.27 set by Colorados own Tabor Stevens in 2015 in La Junta, Colorado. A sub-4-minute mile will trigger a bonus of $10,000 for a possible prize purse of $17,000!

Here are several other important pieces of information:

We have partnered with OUR Center inLongmont and will be running a food and toiletries drive at the meet.Any person making a donation will get one FREE admissions entry with a paid entry (Donations will be taken at the gate). For example: when mom and dad come to see a race, if they bring a can of soup or tube of toothpaste, they will only have to pay for one admission ticket. Items of need - Canned fruit, canned protein, canned soup, granola bars, cereal, toiletries.

2. We will be a collection location for used running shoes and gear. These items will go to One World Running.Old shoes and gear should be in usable condition (not your grass cutting shoes that are full of holes). Collection bins will be near the entrance to the track.

Athletes, Coaches, and Parents,

Please join us on Saturday morning, May 13th, from 9:00-11:00 am for a unique opportunity to practice with some of the elite athletes from ALTIS. The practice will be led by ALTIS coaches and several of the elite athletes.

The practice session will be regenerative in nature and will be applicable to athletes in all events - sprints, jumps, throws and distance. It will consist of a variety of components - warm up, mobility and possibly some light running. If distance athletes would like to get a run in, it should be easy to step out after the warm up, although the mobility aspect could be beneficial.

Practice will last for 60-75 minutes. After that, the athletes and coaches will be available for a question and answer session. We'll wrap up between 10:45-11:00.

The cost of the clinic is $10 per athlete. There is no clinic fee for coaches or parents, and both are welcome to attend.

Coaches, please RSVP with a rough estimate of attendees, so we can plan accordingly.
