Editor's Note: I'm not sure if this article will eventually become the first installment in a series, but I'm open to that happening. If it does become a series, however, I'm going to need some other people to step in and do some writing for me. I feel I can provide a decent fan's guide to the 800 meters, but in other events I'm just another fan. And there are few things worse than someone presuming to speak with understanding in an area where they have no expertise.
