Track season's top stories--as voted by your clicks

Ever wonder what people look at most on Colorado Track XC? Well, here's what you looked at most this outdoor track season.

I should explain a couple of things before we get started. I omitted heat sheets and live tweet articles from this list. Heat sheets are actually fairly popular viewing prior to some meets. Live tweets are very popular on some weekends, but are not really stories in the conventional sense. Finally, to be included on this list, the stories must have originated on Colorado Track XC, and not some other MileSplit site. With those as givens, here is your list of the top ten most clicked-on articles of outdoor track and field, 2014:

10. It's rapidly becoming the state's dominant invitational meet, so why wouldn't a preview article make the top 10?

9. Coach Matt Norton has an article make the top ten list!

8. A weekend mostly lost to weather seems to have turned into a lot of disappointed page viewers (but no Facebook likes).

7. Apparently, it was big news when things got started at the busiest track in Colorado Springs.

6. Nothing like some hard data on state qualifying to get people looking.

5. And, more of the same--this one, however, was more of a portal than an article, per se.

4. People are anxious to read when the season is about to start.

3. It was a really bad weekend for distance runners, and somebody had to tell the story.

2. The only summer article to make the list--and it helped that letsrun.com linked to this one on their front page.

1. You probably already guessed it. It is, by the way, the all-time most viewed article on Colorado Track XC and the most-viewed article in a single day. Only one article on the entire MileSplit network this year has exceeded the page views of this one.

and, how about an honorable mention for the second-most viewed video of the outdoor season on Colorado Track XC...

finishing up the meet in Pueblo, of all places (be sure to wait a bit for the video to load)

This one actually got more out-of-state views than in-state views. People in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and such were flabbergasted that anyone would ever even think of running an event under such conditions.
