A mere week after chasing Jordyn Colter around the Jeffco track for four laps, Lauren Gregory was back taking a shot at the Golden South mile in Orlando, Florida.
The place was the same but, probably as expected, the time was a little faster this time around. Gregory finished at 4:49.52, but missed the adidas Golden Mile auto qualifier to Rachel McArthur, who had a little more left in the tank at the end and ran 4:48.65. The outcome of the race was in doubt well into the final straightaway after Gregory closed most of a substantial gap around the final turn.
It's back-to-back weeks of sterling performances for Gregory, but her status for pending post season mile events remains, at this point, a bit up in the air.
