What's Headed Your Way on Colorado Track XC?

It's the middle of summer vacation and there's nothing to talk about on Colorado Track XC, right? Wrong!

There's plenty to talk about!

First off, there's still track and field going on. This weekend, it's the USA Outdoor and Junior Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Next week, it's the World Youth Trials and USATF Hershey Youth Outdoor meets in Lisle, Illinois. Then there's the USATF Region X Junior Olympics in El Paso. And so it goes....

So, current happenings in track and field will take up a lot of front page real estate here on Colorado Track XC for at least another month.

We'll make our customary effort at tracking down all of the Fourth of July road race efforts for Colorado high schoolers next weekend. You can help by pointing me toward results. Sometimes I can post those results here on Colorado Track XC, and sometimes I just have to point you to them on other sites, but I can get results posted to athlete pages either way. And, it's a great mid-summer check on where the folks who will be running cross country this fall are now.

I've purposely put off any discussion of fall cross country prospects until July. But, beginning July 1, we'll dive into previews for the fall season of cross country. Those previews will continue throughout the remainder of the summer until racing actually begins late in August. We'll discuss cross country at both the Colorado level and, to some extent, at the Nike Southwest region level as well.

And, although it's a series I've let slide a little over the last year, I have a couple of coaches rounded up for the Profiles of Colorado Coaches series. We'll try to find out a little about what makes these people tick.

Although I don't have any plans at the moment, it's almost a given that more articles along the line of one just published about how we seed hurdle races might appear yet this summer. I love thinking about tinkering with how we do things in track and cross country, and it's hard so predict when an idea about that will pop into my head. It's also true that I'm very open to submissions from others in the track and field community that would fall under this general umbrella.

So, please do keep coming back over the summer. Keep your browser in shape and practice for the fall!
