You had a lot of options in front of you. Why did the University of Washington end up being your choice?

I chose the University of Washington for a few reasons. The team is very good and full of people who are more than just runners. This is important to me because although I love running it is not my whole life. This brings up my next reason for choosing the school. The University of Washington is an incredible school with an unrivaled history department and great resources for student athletes. On top of that Seattle is a really interesting place with great music and food.

What do you plan to study at the University of Washington?

I plan on studying special education as well as some combination of US history and marketing. I'm also planning on learning Mandarin and improving my sign language.

In terms of climate, it would be hard to find a place in the United States where the climate is more different from Boulder than Seattle. Was climate a part of your decision, or did it just work out that way?

Climate was definitely a factor because I didn't want more of the same. This was one a big part of choosing UW over OKS [Oklahoma State]. The weather in Seattle is similar to that of San Francisco, which is where my mom is from, and it's a city I have always loved.

If you had to pick a highlight from your high school career, what would it be?

Winning the 4x8 and the cross country team championship are no doubt the highlights of my career to date. The reason for this is because it took the whole team putting everything on the line for each other and that's just a really incredible thing to be a part of.

I'm sure you've heard the suggestion a time or two that "Isaac Green ought to try the decathlon." Has that thought ever crossed your mind?

It has a few times and although I love trying new events, to me the decathlon can't hold a candle to the mile and 800.

What event or events do you plan to focus on in college?

I think the 1500 and 800, but who knows? It is a whole different ball game in college.
