2012 Class A West Sectional
Coachs Meeting

The roped off areas are the competition areas during field events only for athletes and officials pole vault can have a pole catcher. During the running events the only people inside the track or infield should be officials and athletes checking in.
In the interest of safety, we will close all field event warm up as well as clear the track and infield prior to the start of the 1600M race. At the conclusion of these 2 races, we will reopen warm up and the competition areas will go back to being only the marked off field event venues. At the close of all field events, the competition area will once again be designated as the marked off areas outside the track, the track itself and the entire infield. This may push our start times back a few minutes for the 12 noon field events, but the safety of our athletes requires us to do so.
After the field events, the practice field will be open for warm up at the end of the shot and discus. The HJ area can be used for hurdle warm up. Make sure the hurdles go back where they came from.
All track event athletes check in will be done at the check in tent on the infield. Field events athletes report directly to your venue. All athletes need to check in by the 2nd call to avoid being scratched. Once they check in, they wont be able to leave so make sure they know to have shoes, etc. with them. A clerk will walk them from there to starting line. We wont look for stray athletes. Once event ends, they need to leave infield and go to team area or stands.
Please manage your athletes so they will get to participate fully. Make sure they do not miss a height or a run. These cannot be done later. Also, once an event closes, we cannot go back to allow trials. Pole Vault and HJ take priority. We can allow back to back trials to accommodate athletes in the horizontal field events. We will have finals in the horizontal jumps and throws.
We can have no ties between 8th and 10th place for the purpose of substitutions. If we have to do a jump/throw off, contact Dick Moss. This will take place at the conclusion of the event.
If you have a pole vaulter, you must fill out and turn in the pole vault verification form to the press box.
Results will be posted under the press box. Please do not go into the press box. The volunteers will be very busy.
Field event officials - START ON TIME AND KEEP IT MOVING! Please return all equipment to the press box after your field event.
Reporting of violations procedures if you are refereeing an event and you have a violation, you must immediately go to the Head Official/Starter, Dick Moss and describe the violation. After this conference, if we do have a violation, the offending athletes coach will be called to confer with Dick Moss so he can describe the violation.
Please make sure your athletes have on a legal uniform and do not wear jewelry (watches are allowed). The GHSA rule for jewelry states that if an athlete competes while wearing jewelry, he/she will be disqualified. This is different from the NFHS rule. Also no electronic devices (cell phones, ipods, cameras, etc.) are allowed in the competition areas this applies to athletes, coaches and spectators.
Tents will be allowed in 4 locations: the top row only of the home and visitor stands, the grassy area behind the caution tape near the start of the 100M, and on the practice field behind the caution tape away from the shot put, discus, and finish line areas.
If you have questions or need assistance, please see Roby Ross.

Referee Assignments: Please read over to see where your school is assigned. Make sure you review NFHS and GHSA rules prior to the meet. Region 1 will be added shortly.
