Name: Lucas West
High School: Rock Canyon High School
Signing With: Colorado Christian University
What clinched the decision for the school you signed with:
Three reasons sealed the deal for me in regards to signing on with CCU. Firstly, the small, Christian community of less than 1000 students will provide a tight-knit student-to-student and student-to-teacher environment with supportive influences I think will not only benefit my educational experience, but my spiritual experience as well. Secondly, the business and management school they offer is exceptional. The professors and deans I have met with impressed me and I think I will reap a fantastic educational reward by attending it. Thirdly, I will will have the incredible opportunity to run at CCU. I really wanted to continue running competitively once I reached college, and now I will be able to fulfill that goal.
Your favorite high school track event:
I would have to say that my favorite track experience during high school would be a meet at Sports Authority Stadium last season where my 1-mile relay team set a school record and won the race. We felt so proud to win, especially after competing in a race where all members of our team ran a mile.
Your favorite high school athletic memory:
My favorite high school athletic experience would definitely be both of the trips my cross country team took to Arizona for the Nike Southwest National Regionals meet. I thoroughly enjoyed the stay with my friends and coaches and the race conditions and course were phenomenal. In fact, the last time I went, this year, I beat my school's 5K record and my own.
