Tell us a little bit about what drew you to Weber State throws program.

The main thing that drew me to Weber State was their tradition of success in track and field.  When I saw how successful they had been in the Big Sky Conference, I wanted to be a part of that and hopefully help to continue that tradition.

You're currently throwing the shot and discus, and you've dabbled in the javelin in summer meets. What's your favorite throw, and what do you expect to do the most of at Weber State?

I like both the shot put and discus about the same, though I've had the most success so far with the discus.  At Weber State, I expect to throw shot put, discus, hammer, and weight. Many of the college coaches that I've spoken with in the last few months think that my speed in the ring will translate well to the hammer and weight.  I'm looking forward to throwing the weight for the first time in competition at the Simplot Games next week, so hopefully that will go well and I don't embarrass myself!

What are you planning to study there?

I'm planning on studying Human Performance/Exercise Science.  I'd like to do something in the medical field after college.

You had a solid sophomore season, but things really seemed to take off for you in your junior year. Can you point to anything specific that produced the big jump in marks that you saw?

I've been fortunate to be around great coaches who have helped me with my technique year round.  Coach Krafft and Coach Walker at Sand Creek High School and Coach Gil Vasquez during the summer and indoor season have really taught me a lot.  I also hit the weight room real hard and gained about 20 pounds.  The gains in strength and technique really helped me to improve.

Pick a highlight of your high school career to date.

If I had to pick one, it would be the first meet of last season down at Pueblo.  I broke the Sand Creek records in both the shot put and discus as well as winning both events.  That was the first time that I had ever won a meet.

If you could wish for one thing to happen in your track season this spring, what would that one thing be?

Although two things, I'd like to help Sand Creek win the 4A State Championship while breaking the state record in the discus.

**********
The nice thing about trying to catch up with Nathan Dunivan at a meet this spring is that you're likely to get a double bonus and get to see teammate Mariah Walker as well. Special things are likely to happen when the Sand Creek throwers step into the ring. We'll keep tabs on how that Sand Creek title chase is going. The Scorpions have some young men who can put points on the board.
