Reminders and Shout Outs

A few track and field items worth mentioning...

Need Directions to a Meet?

Are you traveling to a meet and need directions to get there? Colorado Track XC has added physical addresses to all (or at least very nearly all) track and field venues in the state. That means when you bring up a meet page, you can click on the blue link for the venue below the meet name and be taken to a page with a small Google map to the venue. Need a bigger map or directions? You're just one click away. There are links for both on the small Google map provided.

Meets Allowing More than One 4x400 Entry per School

I'm aware of at least two meets next weekend that are allowing multiple 4x400 entries per school--the Fort Morgan Invitational and the CSU-Pueblo Early Bird. What a great idea! I know a whole lot of coaches who run out of 400 slots long before they run out of people to put in those slots.

A huge shout out to the Fort Morgan and CSU-Pueblo meets for doing this! It almost--but not quite--makes me wish we had our team in action next weekend.

If you're running a meet and want to allow two (or more) entries per school in the 4x400, let me know. I can make that adjustment for you in the online registration setup. If you're worried about scoring issues with multiple 4x400s, don't. That issue can be easily taken care of in Hy-Tek.

Rosters Due Monday

If you're a coach and don't want to have to double enter your rosters on Max Preps, please be sure to get your rosters fully entered on Colorado Track XC by Monday. Here's the link on how to do that if you need any help with that.

Rosters will be exported to Max Preps sometime after midnight on Tuesday morning. Please be sure to report any duplicate athletes to me before then--otherwise two copies of the same athlete will be exported to Max Preps--and that could potentially create rankings problems down the line.

Online Registration for Your Meet

Requests for online registration have been coming in very nicely so far this season. Thank you very much for your promptness with that. We still have a few in the pipeline yet to be set up, but if you have not submitted your request for online registration, please be sure to get that done soon. It helps all if those are in well ahead of time. Online registration request link.

Non-Rankings Meets on the Calendar

I'm happy to add non-rankings meets to the calendar with the understanding that only those meets for which published results can be expected should be added to the calendar. This accomplishes a couple of desirable outcomes.

One, doing this expands the pool of available marks for seed times and distances. This is especially helpful for those athletes who don't see many rankings meets. I will, however, exclude any marks from being added to the database that would mess up anything in the top 20s of the rankings for an event (such marks can be added at the end of the season after state-qualifying is no longer an issue). I will also exclude marks from non-rankings meets that require wind readings. Posting 100, 200, LJ, TJ, and 100/110H marks to the database from non-rankings meets (where wind gauges are not in use) would inevitably certainly create inequities in seeding for rankings meets.

Two, by only adding meets for which results are forthcoming, we keep the calendar to a manageable size. If every weekday meet were added to the calendar, it would become much more unwieldy to scroll through the list of meets to find the one you are looking for.
