The breakthrough performance of the meet goes to Vista Ridge junior Jacob Morton. Morton ran 17:03.9 for fourth place. How big of a breakthrough was that? Well, consider that Morton's 1600 PR is 4:48 and his best cross country time for all last season was 18:17.6. There appears to be much more to be seen from this young man, and I think that was a smile I detected creeping across the face of new Vista Ridge coach Erik Stevens.
