Brie Oakley runs away with prestigious title.
As mentioned earlier, Colorado has witnessed its share of nationally-ranked cross country runners, particularly of the female gender. However, watching Brie Oakley race is nothing short of amazing. The way with which she attacks race courses, oval tracks included, is fantastic. It's as if she pays little or no attention to pace or regard for how fast she's running…she just runs, all out. The passion and intensity with which she races is rare, and so impressive. It's still baffling that in a little over 13 months she's gone from a jv/varsity swing type soccer player to literally the best high school cross country in America presently.
Her dad said humbly afterwards, "It's hard to believe. Last year we were looking at maybe D III soccer for Brie and now she's signed with Cal."
